The Net Zero Lawyers Alliance (NZLA) was established ahead of COP26 to mobilise commercial law firms, lawyers, and the law to accelerate the transition to net zero. NZLA plays a pivotal role in positioning commercial lawyers to help reduce emissions, manage climate risk, and align with global climate targets. Through collaboration, thought leadership, and practical legal guidance, NZLA works to address legal and systemic barriers to climate transition across sectors.

We are seeking an exceptional individual to serve as Chair of the Board at an important stage in the organisation’s development. NZLA has established its three-year strategy and is focused on delivering its mission while strengthening its global profile and impact. The Chair will play a key role in supporting the Board and executive team to implement this strategy and elevate the organisation’s visibility, partnerships, and influence.

Working closely with the Chief Executive and Board, the Chair will provide strategic leadership, ensure effective governance, and act as an ambassador for NZLA across the legal sector and wider ecosystem.

The time commitment is variable, with an expectation of approximately two days per quarter. This includes:
